those arent the northern lights

first of all i would like to apologize for not blogging the last two days. my house's internet decided to die. lame. but i'm back at the office. which means blog time baby.

so today i am going to share the tale of matt hines. you know how we all have that musician that we love just a little too much? Andrea has Stevie Nicks, Laura has 98 Degrees, and Ross has Kiss. Well i love the music of Matt Hines. one of my big problems is that he is from around here though...which makes this whole thing A LOT creepier. i first encountered matt while he was playing the synthesizer in a band called the Clints. i thought the band played some pretty good music and i really enjoyed the dynamic matt added to band. Skip to the future. Chris and went to a show to see the Clints and Driver F and Matt's other band Alaska is for Players was playing. They were alright, but for some reason looking back i was really drawn to watching them. We bought this compliation they were on and we really liked the two songs that were theres. skip to the future again. Chris and i went to go see Alaska play an acoustic show that matt and his guitarist were playing. it was really good and we bought there cd. soon after alaska broke up and chris and i were devastated. luckily matt started a solo project called the eastern sea. it was really good and chris and i have seen him play like 3o times. so basically thats the short version of the "Proctor is in love with Matt Hine's Music" story.

also...if this is matt reading my blog...i'm really not as creepy as this sounds.

he's just taking up space

why is it that i genuinely love BAD movies. When i say bad i don't mean inappropriate or anything like that...i just mean poorly written movies with terrible acting and ridiculous plots. The reason i'm blogging this is that i just got done watching Disney's RocketMan. And boy was it bad. Why would two astronauts, a monkey, and a goof ball computer programmer all go to Mars together? And why doe the dumb little jokes that ensue entertain me sooo much? I'm not complaining, because for every really good movie there are about five movies like RocketMan that i can enjoy just as much as great movies. so in a way i guess that i'm luckier than most in that i can enjoy movies like RocketMan just as much as some enjoy casablanca.

schmoss scmharrison

today i'm letting ross write my blog.

greetings fellow internet and blog fiends... today we shall continue to delve into conspiracy and secrecy that clouds the minds of honest citizens. In more detail, I am going to discuss the awesomness and overwhelming impressivness of shows on the discovery channel. For all of you who have seen MAN VS. WILD, you know what Im talking about. There is little or nothing that is more entertaining than an ex-British Commando with years of survival training showing people sitting on a couch in an air-conditioned room how to survive in impossible situations. When I'm watching Bear, even though I'm lounging on the couch getting my eat on, I still feel like I am braving the Amazon alongside him, or scaling down a volcanic mountain. Long story short, I feel like I have earned my right to live and survive, just because I watched Man Vs. Wild. In an ironic segue, the Supreme Court case Man v Wild (1908) actually overturned the right of Non-American citizens to film themselves trying to survive in American wildernesses, or to broadcast said shows on American airways... These were dark years for our appeals system.

Fairwell for now,
Ross Harrison

i had a dream

warning: after writing this blog i realized it was kinda lame...but VERY true

well, i have a lot of dreams, weird ones like every night...but that's not what this blog is about. Today i want to tell you about a dream, not like a sleep dream, but something i wish i could do. I wish that i could play Pedal Steel Guitar. Granted i'm not much of musician. Sure, i used to take guitar lessons, and then bass lesson, i even played in the Cornerstone U.M.C. Youth band a few years back. And let's not forget my stint as the lead singer of local joke band legends Core Hard. I guess i have been lucky, because i have no "chops" when it comes to music. I cant read it, i cant sing it, i don't even listen to good music.

...im rambling. Seriously though, guitar is cool but everyone can play guitar...i really want to impress people and pedal steel is the solution. i recently saw this band called Limbeck. i love limbeck. They play what some people call classic california rock and other people call it alt-country. but at the limbeck show they had a pedal steel player playing with them and it was awesome. i would have so much street cred if could bust out pedal steel solos.

...i dont know. just sayin itd be cool. i included a picture of the guy who i saw play, spacey casey...he's wearing a bear mask.

one week

Ladies and gentlemen happy one week blogoversarry. That's correct, while it may seem like i have been blogging all my life, it has been a mere seven days. So, in honor of the blogoversarry i am going to name the "Blogfessions of a Teenage Youth Intern Lifetime Achievement Award"

AND THE WINNER IS.......Andrea Peterson!!!!!!!
Andrea is receiving the life time achievement award for being the coolest female grown-up i have ever met. Andrea and i crossed paths when she was my fifth grade vacation bible school teacher, and ever since we have been friends. She has been the top commenter on my blog as well as a person i can always count on to make me feel cool. Some time i will actually present Andrea with some kind of tangible award, but until then all my readers can look at this picture of Andrea and Stevie Nicks.

And, in other news. Last night we went to the Astro's game against the Oakland Athletics. As you may or may not know, i am not the biggest baseball fan in the world, but i did have a very good time. As usual Ross Harrison and I got into quite a few misadventures. We also made a very interesting discovery, some of you may know Emily Stewart as the sweet quiet member of the Stewart family. BUT when you take her into her element, an Astro's game, she turns into a different Emily...a crazy Astro crazy dancing Emily. For those of you that haven't seen this phenomenon it is amazing!!! I highly recommend you take her to see a game because it may change your life.

That is all for today.

they never met a hot dog they didn't like

And today i bring a new segment called: THE GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME. This segment is brought to you in part by Encore, for playing the greatest movie of all time this morning before i left for work. So the coveted GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME AWARD goes to......HEAVYWEIGHTS!!!!!!!!!

That's right ladies and gentle men, i'm talking about the Disney classic in which our hero, Gerald Garner, get suckered into attending Camp Hope, a fat camp, for the whole summer. The film was one of Ben Stiller's earliest movies, and my first run in with Mr. Stiller. It also featured most of the boys who would eventually star in the Mighty Ducks films. Heavyweights was also the first film written and produced by Judd Apatow, who you may know from his recent film Knocked Up. Long story short Camp Hope gets taken over by Ben Stiller and he's crazy and makes the kids work super hard and not eat and all sorts of the stuck.

It's not just a hilarious comedy, but it's also a tale of strength and overcoming the horrors of an evil tyrant....fitness tyrant. The film hits it's peak when the kids from Camp Hope have to go up against the kids across the lake at the Camp M.V.P., the athletic camp. Blah Blah Blah basically it's the finest American film since Casablanca.

i'll probably write a real blog at work.

biggie fries

i just got home from my other job, the office job, and after i settled onto the couch i wound up on my computer exploring wikipedia. As i journeyed from article to article i remembered the joy that i get while reading random articles that supply me with information that is truly useless. I usually search the site for information on old t.v. shows that i used to love(talespin) or video games that i used to play, in fact nine times out of ten i think i use wikipedia for nostalgic purposes. But the whenever that's not the case i find myself just reading goofy articles. Today as i searched through the massive online encyclopedia i stumbled upon the article for "French fried potatoes" and what an article to read. I never thought that such a small food item could have so much history, variety, and information surrounding it. I could tell you more but i challenge you to at least visit the article.

freshcut

Yesterday i went to get a hair cut. For most a haircut is a very important thing, women typically spend thousands of dollars throughout their lives on their precious hair, and i understand why. Hair is pretty important to one's look. If your stuck with a lame haircut it can make even the smallest problem seem even worse. Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna both spend $800 dollars every time they get their hair cut at the Trendy New York hair salon Orlo.

But regardless of all this i still spend a mere six dollars every time i need a fresh cut. What on earth is wrong with me? "$5.99 Haircut" is located at the corner of Highway 6 and Pebble Lake Dr. And i'm not gonna lie to you, they usually give me an awful haircut, but for some reason i always go back. I can afford to spend more than six dollars on a haircut, that's not the reason. I think it has to do with the danger, knowing that i'm going in there with a full head of hair and six dollars in my pocket and there is no telling what im coming back with. I guess it's the same reason people drive motor cycles and go sky diving. Guys like me, we don't like to be safe, we live our lives on the edge whether it be taming lions, driving motor cycles of bridges, or getting six dollar haircuts. We are the reason they make action movies, and we are the reason for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and we are the reason for people like Evil Knievel.

Strange thing is the haircut turned out alright.

so long,

rumble in the bronx

did you know that Jackie Chan is a very successful singer in Asia?
he often records theme songs to his own films.
unfortunately the songs are removed from the films when they come to America.
what a shame.

and we're off

Today Laura and i are off from work, but alas i still blog. It's my duty, it's my job, it's my responsibility. Now blogging will be a lot tougher since i'm not at the office and i don't have Laura to make fun of. So i have decided to share something that is very near and dear to my heart.

Through out my childhood there have been many television shows that have brought joy to me. One of them being TaleSpin. TaleSpin was a cartoon show that ran 65 episodes in the early 90's. The shows characters were based on Disney's The Jungle Book. It told the story of Baloo and his adventures as a renegade pilot in the town of Cape Suzette.

The T.V. show was a great example of animation and a big influence on me as a child. The show branched out in to many other markets. There were TaleSpin games, toys, comics, and clothing.

Needless to say, if you have never seen TaleSpin i highly recommend you find a way to view this great television show. It shows on Saturday's at 11:30 on Toon Disney, or you can purchase DVD of the first 23 episodes at your local Best Buy.

...so yea

In the Begining

My name is Proctor Anderson, i'm an 18 year old boy who is working at Cornerstone United Methodist Church as a summer youth intern. My regional manager at this job is Laura Hensley. This is my blog.

Today is my sixth day working for the church, but really my second day at the office. Today i came in and Laura was listening to a sports radio station....big surprise. Just kidding, but because of the sports radio station i now have a big problem. Rihanna's song Umbrella is stuck in my head! Now don't get me wrong, i love me some "r&b pop" but i really dislike that song. It doesn't make sense, lyrically, musically, and just generally. Update: The sports radio station just redeemed itself by playing an old Dr. Dre song. Dr. Dre is an excellent musician, unfortunately most of his lyrics are obscene and not for young listeners.

Laura keeps making fun of me, but little does she know i am going to blog all of her strange habits and bad ideas. For example she keeps telling me that she is going to marry Luke Scott, and Jim Halpert. The first husband being a professional baseball player and the latter being a fictional character on t.v. show.

Thats all the news i have for you know. I have included a picture of my self on my first day of work as well as a picture of a Hakeem The Dream, former center for the Houston Rockets and quite possibly one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

farewell for now,
Proctor Anderson
